Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge will host its annual Memorial Day March beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014. The event begins with a short ceremony at the Masonic Cemetery, located at George and Charles Streets in downtown Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg Police Add Body Cameras

The City of Fredericksburg Police Department has joined a growing number of agencies across the country issuing body cameras to their officers.
Fredericksburg is using the Axon Flex camera by Taser International. The camera, designed to capture video and audio of an officer’s actions and perspective during an investigation or enforcement encounter, can be worn attached to a lapel or sunglasses.

Fredericksburg Man Dies on OBX Beach

A Fredericksburg man vacationing on North Carolina’s Outer Banks died when a beach tunnel he was digging collapsed on him.
Family members and others on the Cape Hatteras Island beach south of Salvo tried to uncover David Frasier, but he was buried too deep, National Park Service spokesperson Cyndy Holda told the Associated Press.

Fredericksburg Mother, Unborn Child Die Following Insect Sting

Fredericksburg mother Sarah Marie Schulzetenberg Harkins, 32, and her unborn daughter Cecilia Rachel died July 28 following an insect sting.
She was in her backyard when she was stung by a bee or a wasp and had an allergic reaction which caused a brain aneurysm, family members told WWBT.
Paving Work to Close NB I-95 Lanes in Fredericksburg Area
Two lanes of northbound Interstate 95 will be closed overnight August 10 – 14, 2014, for milling and paving between exit 126/Spotsylvania and exit 130/Route 3 at Fredericksburg.
Weather permitting, work has been scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 10 – Thursday, Aug. 14 during the following hours:
Sunday, Aug. 10 • Two northbound lanes close at 10 p.m. • All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m.
