The Commission’s Sustainability Award will be issued annually to any Fredericksburg City business, both restaurant and nonrestaurant businesses, that meet a minimum set of criteria.

The largest roof-top solar system on any homeless shelter in the state is on the Thurman Brisben Center in Fredericksburg. Officials say it’s about renewable energy and training people for solar careers.
