The Central Rappahannock Regional Library will stop offering library services at the Barbara J. Fried Center Joint Use Branch on Feb. 16.
In a news release, CRRL stated that the joint-use space was underused. The Fried Center is being relocated to North Stafford, an area served by the Porter Branch of the library system. The 593-square foot space was operated in cooperation with Germanna Community College as a pick-up and drop-off location for library materials and patron computer access since 2018.
“The staff from the Central Rappahannock Regional Library at Fried have been assigned to another location in our library system,” branch manager Mary Buck wrote in an email to the Free Press. “In addition, all materials, furniture, computers, and equipment owned by CRRL are being repurposed,”
Germanna students can still access the school’s libraries and its collections.
“The Central Rappahannock Regional Library has valued this partnership with Germanna Community College,” Buck added. “We are pleased that our partnership continues with the Rappahannock Writers’ Conference, which is held at Germanna’s Fredericksburg campus each fall.”
