Members of the Stafford High School Wrestling Team braved the 19-degree weather to volunteer at Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) in Fredericksburg on Sunday.
The frigid weather and early morning hour didn’t deter them from walking and playing with the rescue dogs, mopping floors, washing dog beds and giving treats and toys to the four-legged residents at ODHS.
Bryana Garcia, a senior at Stafford High School and manager of the team, spearheaded the effort, and many students in the group made a commitment to continue volunteering at ODHS. The rescue is located at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg. Adoption events are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m., Fridays from 6-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 12-4 p.m.
Applications in advance are preferred and take priority over walk-ins. For more information about the dogs available for adoption and adoption applications, as well as upcoming events, volunteering, fostering and donating items, visit https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org.
