From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:
A Stafford juvenile was transported to Juvenile Intake after bringing multiple restricted items into a school.
On October 20th at approximately 10:10 a.m. Deputy A.L. Chaves was conducting his SRO duties at Mountain View High School, located at 2135 Mountain View Road. While there, staff requested his assistance due to a report of a student possibly in possession of a firearm. One student overheard another student mention having a gun and promptly informed a staff member. Deputy Chaves made contact with the suspect student who confirmed he had an item in his waistband.
The student was found to be in possession of a pocket knife, two vape devices, and a BB-gun. The student confirmed all the items were in fact his and he knowingly brought them into the school. Criminal complaints for underage possession of tobacco and two counts of weapon possession on school grounds were filed. The school is handling discipline and Juvenile Intake agreed to take custody of the student.
Thank you to not only the amazing staff for their handling of this incident, but to the student who originally reported the incident. While no real firearms were involved in this incident, not being afraid to report suspicious activity can help keep our schools safer.
