Officer McCoy joined our agency after graduating from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy in May 2021. In addition to being a patrol officer, Officer McCoy is a member of the Peer Support Team, Community Outreach Team, Honor Guard, Project Lifesaver, and Tactical Field Force Team. He has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from the College of Southern Maryland and is currently enrolled at Averett University seeking a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
Deputy Police Chief Mason says, “Officer McCoy loves to engage with citizens daily and we have witnessed that impact on the community over the past two years. We look forward to his presence in the downtown district and know he will be a great addition as a Community Police Officer. “
Officer McCoy is a proud husband, son, brother, and friend who loves spending time with family. We are excited to watch him succeed in his new role and serve as a bridge between the downtown district and the Police Department.
