The Stafford Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce a significant update to our deputies’ uniforms and equipment, aimed at enhancing both functionality and safety for our dedicated law enforcement professionals.
In response to the ever-evolving needs of modern policing and a commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of our officers, the Stafford Sheriff’s Office will be rolling out a new uniform and outer vest design. This initiative reflects our continuous efforts to provide our deputies with the best tools and gear to serve and protect our community effectively.
The new uniform and outer vest have been carefully designed with input from our deputies and feedback from members of the community.
On May 1st, 2022, a uniform committee was created as a result of our strategic planning to improve our uniforms and transition to an outer vest carrier. After sixteen months of research, testing, and analysis the uniform and outer vest were selected.
Starting September 11th, 2023, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will be transitioning to the new uniform.
The enhancements to the uniform and outer vest combination include:
1. Improved Durability: The new uniform materials are more durable, ensuring that officers are well-equipped to handle the demands of their daily duties.
2. Enhanced Comfort: We have focused on providing officers with a uniform that is not only functional but also comfortable for long hours of duty.
3. Streamlined Appearance: The updated uniform design maintains a professional and approachable appearance, instilling trust and confidence in our community members.
4. Enhanced Visibility: Reflective elements have been added to the uniform to increase officers’ visibility during nighttime operations, further ensuring their safety.
Sheriff Decatur expressed his enthusiasm for this upgrade, saying, “Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to keep our community safe. Providing them with the best equipment and uniforms is not just a priority, but our duty. These changes will improve their ability to serve and protect Stafford County effectively.”
