Applications are now open for Cooling Assistance through the Virginia Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Assistance is available for:
– Payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment
– Payment of security deposits for electricity to operate cooling equipment
– Repair of a central air conditioning system or heat pump
– Purchase of a whole-house fan, including ceiling or attic fans
– Purchase and installation of a window unit air conditioner
To be eligible, certain citizenship criteria must be met and a household’s income must be less than the maximum allowed for the number of people in the home. Additionally, the household must contain at least one vulnerable individual who is age 60 or over, is living with a disability, or is under age 6. The application period for Refrigeration Assistance through the Energy Assistance of Virginia (EAP) is now open. Assistance is available for the following:
– Payment of electric bills to operate refrigeration equipment.
– The payment of guarantee deposits for electricity to operate the cooling equipment.
– Paying for the repair of a central air conditioning system or heat pump.
– Buying fans for the whole home, including ceiling or attic fans.
– Purchase and installation of a window air conditioner.
In order to be eligible, certain citizenship criteria must be met and household income must be less than the maximum allowed for the number of people living there. In addition, in the home there must be at least one vulnerable person older than 60 years of age, a person with a disability or one under the age of 6.
