From the Marine Corps Marathon Organization:

Alex Trouteaud, age 43, from Barnesville, Md. repeated as the overall winner of the Marine Corps 17.75K on Saturday, March 25 at Prince William Forest Park in Prince William, Va. Trouteaud battled through the cold and rain to better his 2022 win by over a minute crossing the finish line at 1:02:59.

“The course was actually in pretty good shape, and it felt good out there,” stated Trouteaud. “Just took it one mile at a time and had a lot of fun.”

It was a close battle most of the morning between Trouteaud and second place finisher Jonathan Ladson, age 31, from Dale City, Va. Ladson’s finishing time was 1:04:31. “I felt like I could hear him (Ladson) breathing behind me,” expressed Trouteaud. “It was motivation to keep pushing as I thought he was going to make a hard run at it there at the end, so it was really just a matter of hanging on.”

Rounding out the top three male finishers was Alex Standiford, age 30, from Fredericksburg, Va. coming in at 1:05:10.

Leading the female finishers was Erin-Kate Aleksak, age 43, from Alexandria, Va. with a time of 1:21:08. “Of course, the Marines do everything 100 percent so it’s going to be a great race even in this weather,” said Aleksak.

Aleksak is running all six service races in 2023 as a fundraiser, participating in today’s event to guarantee entry into the 48th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) running on October 29, 2023. She was one of the 2,391 finishers from 43 states and 2 countries who completed the live and in-person Marine Corps 17.75K to receive Access Granted into this year’s MCM.

Coming in as the second place female was Andrea Rodman, age 40, from Bealeton, Va. followed by Jenny Colgate, age 43, from Lorton, Va. Their times were 1:22:49 and 1:26:32, respectfully.

The 11.03 mile event, which commemorates the founding year of the United States Marine Corps, became a qualifying event of the Semper Fidelis Challenge in 2023. This challenge is a multi-event combination pushing runners to complete today’s distance, the Marine Corps Historic Half on May 21 in Fredericksburg, Va. and finishing with the Marine Corps Marathon on October 29 in Arlington, Va. The Marine Corps 17.75K is also the first tier of the 2023 Distinguished Participant Program, motivating runners to complete a live event from each of MCMO’s 2023 race weekends.

Over 270 runners across the United States and 6 countries are also registered to complete the 17.75K distance virtually. Participants in both the in-person and virtual events received a specially designed technical shirt, finisher medal and more.

Runners have the opportunity to #RunWithTheMarines again on May 21 as part of the Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend in Fredericksburg.   Entries are still available for the Historic Half, Semper 5ive and Devil Dog Double.
