Dominion Energy crews worked over night and will continue working throughout today with the goal to have all customers restored by the end of the day. As of this morning 512 customers at 35 project locations remain without power. Contractors are currently working on the damaged tree removal at the Mary Washington Monument, please be cautious in that area of Washington Avenue today.
Fredericksburg Public Works crews are continuing their work on tree removal and debris cleanup today. Here is a current list of streets that still remain closed to traffic.
* McKinney – tree on lines and on car / blocking ½ of the street
* 800 Monroe Blocked by tree – power lines
To assist crews in responding to this storm recovery efforts, residents are requested not to place vegetation debris from their yards at the curbs or on the streets at this time. Once the debris that has fallen into the streets impacting safety and travel routes has been removed, debris pickup from private residential areas will be proceed. It is anticipated that this work will require an estimated two weeks. Further information will be announced as clean-up efforts continue. Yard Waste Disposal – Beginning, today, June 24 through Friday, July 8 the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) will temporarily waive fees for storm-related yard waste disposal for residents, at the Regional Landfill, 489 Eskimo Hill Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Accepted yard waste at the Regional Landfill includes yard waste up to 12” in diameter and a maximum length of 8’. The waiver applies only to the disposal by residents, not commercial firms.
The Convenience Center at the Dorothy Hart Community Center is re-opening today, June 24th from 11am to 4pm. While Dominion Energy continues to work to restore to all residents, the City recognizes that there may be some residents still without power today. The Convenience Center is not a Shelter, but it will provide a place for those still without power to come and charge their phones and conduct any work during that time. The Department of Social Services will be staffing the Convenience Center and will have a limited amount of supplies for those that need chargers or power sources. If you plan to come to the Convenience Center, you are encouraged to bring some snacks, games, books or any other minor comforts from home.
The City UAS (drone) team is out and about in areas of the city and in several parks today filming damage aerial assessments.
