An intoxicated driver was pulled over in Stafford on Sunday charged with driving 118 miles an hour on I-95.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy observed a Toyota Camry driving recklessly northbound on I-95 at the 141-mile-marker. The vehicle was switching lanes cutting off other vehicles at 118 mph.

First Sergeant Collins activated his emergency equipment to make a traffic stop and the suspect slowed to between 60 and 70 mph, but did not stop until Deputy E.E. West joined the pursuit at the 145.8-mile-marker.

The driver was called out of the vehicle and identified as Karim Brown, 46, of Bronx, New York. Brown had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and there were open alcohol containers in the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were administered and he was arrested.

Brown was charged with DUI, eluding, reckless driving and drinking while driving. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
