Northern Neck Electric Cooperative will launch a new website, mobile app, and account management service on January 31, making it even easier for members to connect with the electric cooperative and its programs and services.
Through coNNECt, which is available on the cooperative’s website — nnec.coop — and through an app for iPhone/iPad and Android devices — NNEC members will be able to monitor their energy use, pay their bills, contact member services, and eventually notify the cooperative of an outage, among other things.
“After we received feedback from members, our team worked incredibly hard to develop an easier, safer, and smarter way to connect with us and with their accounts,” said Brad Hicks, the president and CEO of NNEC. “Through coNNECt, our members will be able to spend less time managing their account, and more time doing the things that power their passions and pursuits.”
There are numerous useful features in coNNECt, said Richard McLendon, the vice president of member services who managed the project.
“Everything that a member needs to do with us can be accomplished from their smartphone or computer. They have the power to completely manage their account from the tips of their fingers at any time of day. We are truly meeting the member where they are,” said McLendon.
Every member of NNEC will need to register for a coNNECt account starting January 31. Their account numbers will be the same as before with one small change. There will no longer be dashes included in the account numbers. Members who had previously saved payment information with the NNEC account management system will need to reenter that information inside of coNNECt.
“We do not have access to your payment information. It is saved in a secure location, so we have no way of bringing it over to the new system, which also has a secure payment system,” said McLendon. “When members register for their coNNECt account, they will also be encouraged to go paperless with their bill, so they can receive their new bill immediately, no matter where they are. We are trying to make managing your account as simple as possible, and I think we have accomplished that with coNNECt.”
NNEC has posted resources for members on its website at nnec.coop, and more resources will be available for members after the launch on January 31.
