The King George Sheriff’s Office says a 19 year old Colonial Beach man was killed Friday while trying to avoid a King George deputy. First Sgt. Kecia Wharton said the crash took place in the area of Dahlgren Road and Monte Vista Drive. 19-year old Jamari Brown died at the scene.
Authorities tell us a deputy on routine patrol noticed a vehicle being operated recklessly. When the offier tried to make a traffic stop the vehicle started passing other cars on a double yellow line. Police say the vehicle crashed and caught fire. Three deputies and a King George firefighter were injured trying to rescue the victim. All were hospitalized. A deputy remains hospitalized in good condition. The others have been released.
State Police are investigating the accident.
