An intoxicated driver was arrested Thursday night in Stafford County after driving on a rim, sending sparks along the roadway.
Around 9:39 p.m., a deputy observed a Chrysler PT Cruiser pull onto Warrenton Road from a motel parking lot without yielding to oncoming traffic. The Chrysler continued to attract attention by driving in between the lanes of travel. However, the vehicle also had a flat front passenger side tire and was on the rim, creating a shower of sparks on the roadway.
Police conducted a traffic stop on Warrenton Road at Interstate 95 and identified the driver as 35-year old Amanda Landers of Stafford. Police say Landers had slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet. Field sobriety tests were administered and a search warrant for blood was executed.
Landers was charged with DUI second offense in five years and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 bond.
