Fall Foliage Report for Virginia State Parks
Welcome to our fall foliage report for 2021. Each week we will be taking pictures at various parks and highlighting them below. The parks will also be sharing the conditions of the leaf color.
For the week of October 11, Autumn continues to slowly turn park foliage into the warm colors we all love to see. Find pops of color throughout our parks, though dominant green is holding on in the warm temperatures. Early fall foliage can be spotted in our Central region on Beech, Maple and Dogwood trees. In the Western region, you will see that Walnut and Maple trees are also turning yellow. Many trees have dropped their colorful leaves on the ground, so the best way to see fall colors is to go on a hike. In our Coastal region, find warm hues in a sunset on the sea, while we wait for foliage to turn still. Cooler temperatures are around the corner, which will bring on the full fall colors throughout the parks very soon.
