Just after 6 a.m. Friday morning, Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) units were dispatched for a reported structure fire in the 00 block of Vesta Drive in the White Oak area of the county. First-arriving units arrived approximately six minutes later and found smoke conditions in the
rear of the structure. Further investigation revealed a fire in a room in the basement of the structure. The fire was brought under control in less than five minutes.
All occupants were out of the structure prior to fire department arrival. One occupant was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, and was reported in stable condition. The structure is currently habitable and the residents did not need the assistance of the Red Cross. The home did not have any working smoke alarms.
Stafford Fire and Rescue was assisted on scene by the Fredericksburg Fire Department. The Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was accidental and electrical in nature.
