From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

A Fredericksburg man is in jail after firing several rounds at an occupied vehicle during a disturbance in Olde Forge Friday night.
On August 6 at 8:54 p.m. deputies responded to the 900 block of Anvil Road for a disturbance. As deputies were approaching the scene, they learned a subject had fired several rounds from a handgun and was fleeing the scene in a silver Ford Edge.
Deputy K.P. Hall located the suspect vehicle and conducted a high risk stop in the 200 block of Warrenton Road. The suspect Duane Coles, 34, was taken into custody without incident. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
The investigation revealed the victim arrived in Olde Forge to pick up his child. An argument ensued between the victim and the child’s mother. Coles, an acquaintance of the child’s mother, exited a townhome and fired a handgun into the air. The victim tried to flee in his vehicle and Coles fired multiple rounds as the vehicle left. Two bullet holes were located in the victim’s vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.
Coles was charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
