A suspect wanted for assault  in Stafford was apprehended with the assistance of K9 Titan.  Last Friday at about 3:30pm., deputies met with a victim of an assault. The victim told deputies that the suspect assaulted her on two separate occasions.  The deputies learned the suspect was last seen in the backyard of his residence located on Quarry Road.

Deputies responded to the residence and observed 33-year old Joshua  Sims at the back door. Deputies told Sims he was under arrest. He ignored multiple commands to come out of the house. Sims would repeatedly stand in the doorway concealing his right hand before retreating back into the house. He later released two pit bulls into the yard towards the deputies. K9 Titan was deployed into the residence and Sims was successfully taken into custody. Sims continued to display resistance and became belligerent when deputies began to transport him to the hospital. He was treated and released for a minor injury.

Deputies and K9 Titan were not injured in the incident. Sims was charged with two counts of assault, five counts of assault on a law enforcement officer,
and obstruction of justice. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
