Stafford County has canceled the Memorial Day 2020 Ceremony at the Stafford Armed Services Memorial due to the COVID-19 pandemic along with adhering to CDC and State guidelines regarding social distancing and the Governor’s 10-person gathering restriction. The ceremony is typically held the Friday before Memorial Day.
“Even though we will not be gathering this year, may we all take a moment to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Stafford Board of Supervisors Chairman Meg Bohmke. “This is a hard decision, but we have to put the protection of everyone’s health first at this time.”
The next ceremony to be held at the Armed Services Memorial will be the Veterans Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020. The Stafford Armed Services Memorial borders the drive into the Government Center complex from Courthouse Road. Bricks are available for purchase to memorialize loved ones, friends and family. Bricks purchased by September 15 will be installed in time for the Veterans Day Ceremony. For more information, visit www.staffordcountyva.gov/buyabrick
