Democrats in a House of Delegates committee advanced legislation to ban the sale of assault weapons and the possession of magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.
. Alexandria Delegate Mark Levine’s bill would prohibit the sale or transfer of those firearms after January 1. Anyone who legally owns the guns before January 1 would be allowed to keep them.
