The voluntary Gun Giveback by Fredericksburg Police on Saturday resulted in 12 guns and a BB gun. Over 180 firearms have been turned in since the voluntary program began six years ago.
Some of the guns go to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science to assist with research. Others will be destroyed. The Gun Giveback allows owners to turn in unwanted firearms so they never end up in the hands of criminals or children.
