Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Today

From Central Rappahannock Regional Library

Celebrate literacy by participating in the world’s largest shared reading experience. During last year’s Jumpstart’s Read for the Record event, 1.5 million people participated! Jumpstart is hoping for even more readers this year, and Central Rappahannock Regional Library is going to help. Together, on this special day, we’ll support the Jumpstart organization in its efforts to promote early childhood education.

On Thursday, October 25, visit your favorite library branch to enjoy Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood by F. Isabel Campoy. Maybe Something Beautiful reveals how art can inspire transformation – and how even the smallest artists can accomplish something big. Pick up a paintbrush and join the celebration!

After sharing the book, be sure to sign the log at the library so that your family can be counted! Enjoy some activity sheets and a photo op, too. Be sure to tag us when you share it on social media with #ReadfortheRecord and @crrlnews.

Reading aloud with young children – whether in the classroom, at home, or in the community – builds literacy and language skills and provides positive reading experiences that instill a love of reading.
