Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.
Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Aquia Creek at mile marker 145
The I-95 bridges over Aquia Creek are located just after Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) at mile marker 145.
· I-95 Southbound:
o Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
§ Expect a single, right lane closed.
Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.
· I-95 Southbound:
o Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
§ 9 p.m. – one lane closed
§ 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
§ 4:30 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday when all lanes will reopen by 6 a.m.
· I-95 Northbound:
o Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
§ Expect a single, left lane and shoulder to be closed.
Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)
Work is underway on a project to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.
Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Courthouse Road will be reduced to one lane from Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive. Crews will be working near the I-95/Exit 140 interchange. Flaggers will direct one-way traffic through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Walpole Street for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Winding Creek Road at Courthouse Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Winding Creek Road for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the interchange and work zone. Expect brief delays.
Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project
Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.
Route 3 Eastbound and Westbound
(New) Monday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 9 a.m. Expect single, left lane closures on Route 3 eastbound and westbound near the Route 3/I-95 Interchange at Exit 130 for construction activities. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Carl D. Silver Parkway
(Update) Monday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 9 a.m. A single southbound lane on Carl D. Silver Parkway, the main Central Park exit, will be closed overnight for water line and sewer work. Drivers wanting to go to westbound Route 3 from Central Park will be detoured to Trade Street then to Central Park Boulevard. Signs will be posted to warn drivers about the closure and detour. Traffic will still be allowed to turn to eastbound Route 3 towards I-95.
Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project
Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.
Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 118
Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect a single, left lane on I-95 northbound closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.
Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road near the Exit 118 interchange for storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
Mallard Road
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mallard Road for storm sewer installation. Motorists should expect brief delays. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
Stafford County Work Zones
Route 651 (Kellogg Mill Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 651 (Kellogg Mill Road) at the bridge over Potomac Run for bridge repairs. Flaggers will direct traffic over the bridge. Expect brief delays at the bridge approaches.
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

I˗95 Northbound at Exit 126/Massaponax
(New) Monday ˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. A single lane on I-95 northbound at Exit 126/Massaponax will close at 9 p.m. for bridge repairs followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. each day. Expect overnight delays.
I-95 Southbound at Mile Marker 122
(New) Monday ˗ Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. Expect a single, left lane closed on Interstate 95 southbound near mile marker 122, which is south of Exit 126/Massaponax for maintenance work.
Route 1 at Hickory Ridge Road
(New) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 1 southbound near Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road) for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.
Caroline County Work Zone
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) at Ladysmith Road
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures near the Route 1 and Ladysmith Road intersection to allow crews to take soil samples. Flaggers will direct drivers through the intersection. Expect, brief overnight delays.
Route 601 (Hewlett Road)
(New) Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 601 (Hewlett Road) near Jericho Road to allow crews to inspect the bridge over the North Anna River. Expect brief delays near the bridge approaches.
Route 606 (Stonewall Jackson Road)
(New) Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 606 (Stonewall Jackson Road) near Edgehill Academy Road to allow crews to inspect the bridge over the Mattaponi River. Expect brief delays near the bridge approaches.
Route 639 (Ladysmith Road)
(Update) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect only shoulder closures on Ladysmith Road near the Route 1 intersection to allow crews to take soil samples.

Route 3 (Main Street) at Claybrook Avenue
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 3 (Main Street) from Claybrook Avenue to Brent Street for roadway improvements. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Route 3 (Mary Ball Road) at Whites Lane
(New) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 3 (Mary Ball Road) near Whites Lane for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Route 200 (Irvington Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 200 (Irvington Road) northbound and southbound from Second Avenue to Main Street for roadway improvements. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone
Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge
Temporary traffic signals are installed at the center spans of the Norris Bridge on Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties. Two temporary signals control one-way, alternating traffic at the bridge’s center spans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Crews are using the closed lane to paint the center spans of the bridge over the Rappahannock River. The signals will remain in place until the end of the painting project in June 2018.
Mathews County Work Zone
Route 14
(New) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 14 near Route 3 for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Middlesex County Work Zone
Route 33 (General Puller Highway)
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 33 (General Puller Highway) eastbound and westbound near Stormont Road for roadway improvements. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Route 227 (Urbanna Road)
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 227 (Urbanna Road) northbound and southbound from Route 33 (General Puller Highway) to Old Courthouse Road for roadway improvements. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Richmond County Work Zone
Route 3 at Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road)
(New) Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Route 3 will be reduced to a single lane just west of the intersection with Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road) for an emergency pipe rehabilitation project over Laton’s Swamp. One-way, alternating traffic will be directed through the work zone. Crews will be installing signs and mobilizing in the work zone. Expect brief delays. Project completion is May 29, 2018.
Route 3 Business in Warsaw
(New) Monday-Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 3 in Warsaw for roadway improvements. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Route 360
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗ 6 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound and westbound near Route 624 (Newland Road) for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.
