Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) will host a public forum on affordable housing on Monday, November 6, at Salem Church Branch, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Affordable Housing: A Community Conversation will be a chance to hear from experts, such as Janel Donohue, President of the Rappahannock United Way (RUW), who will present data and findings from the ALICE Project and share information about how RUW assists residents with housing issues. According to the United Way ALICE Project report, 39% of Virginia families are struggling to afford their basic needs and are considered ALICE: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. That means many working families are stressed, and the quality of life for our community overall is diminished.
Additional panelists, including Kim Lally, Executive Director of The Brisben Center, and Meghann Cotter, Executive Servant-Leader of Micah Ministries, will share their approaches, initiatives, and perspectives. CRRL has partnered with The League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area and Spotsylvania Neighborhood Watch to bring this discussion to the forefront. Residents are invited to participate in continuing this community dialogue and to work toward local solutions.
