From Washington Heritage Museums
Fredericksburg — Washington Heritage Museums will host its third annual fundraiser,
“Bourbon & Boxwood” at the Mary Washington House and gardens on September 23, 2017.
Supporting the museums and their associated histories requires the assistance of a
dedicated community. The Washington Heritage Museums include the Mary Washington
House, Rising Sun Tavern, Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop and St. James’ House. The
organization is governed by Fredericksburg-area residents with members throughout Virginia
and across the nation.
To celebrate the four museums, and to raise funds to continue to preserve the four 18th
century buildings and their histories for future generations, the Washington Heritage Museums
invites the community to “Bourbon & Boxwood,” a night of bourbon tastings, a full open bar,
delicious food, live music, and garden and house tours, September 23, 2017, from 7 p.m. until 10
p.m. at 1200 Charles St. The event will take place under the stars in the gardens and on
adjoining Lewis Street.
Admission of $75 per person ($35 tax deductible) includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open
bar and a night of fun including live performances by The Harry Wilson Trio, Ask Fred, and The
Bruce Middle Trio. Raffle tickets for a beautiful painting of the Mary Washington House
gardens are also available for $20, and participants need not be present to win. The painting is
by artist Terri Beringer, whose work was featured at one of the homes on the 2016 Candlelight
Tour.
Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing mission of Washington Heritage
Museums.
