Downtown Fredericksburg has many foodie stories. They’re stories of families in the kitchen, making their dreams come true meal by meal.
Danilo Orofino, owner of Orofino Italian Restaurant in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is no different. His story is sweeter with his thick Sicilian accent and smell of fresh pasta and pastries in the air.
Danilo arrived in the U.S. nearly six years ago, and he’s never looked back. He saw an opportunity in the U.S., and after hard work seized his dream in downtown Fredericksburg.
“The downtown Fredericksburg community is so amazing, so supporting,” Danilo said. “You do it right, and the people have your back. This community is like family; like my family in Sicily.”
Every Sunday Danilo’s family, 70 to 80 strong, gathered around the dining room table, where his grandmother, mom, and four sisters spent their morning making fresh pasta, bread, and desserts for the family. These meals shaped Danilo’s perspective on food and life, and he credits these memories with his success.
If you have not tried Orofino’s – do. It’s one of many family-owned restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg. Danilo’s passion, love for family, and commitment to the community is present in every bite.
