Fredericksburg Summer Restaurant Week
July 29 through August 8, 2016
“Two for $20” specials at 24 participating restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair
Friday, July 29 – Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016.
Fredericksburg Fairgrounds, 2400 Airport Ave., Fredericksburg
Rides, games, shows, animals, music, food, and fun for the entire family.
$6 – $8 admission.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on the Lawn
Friday, Aug. 5, 5:30 – 10 p.m.
The Pavilion at Merchants Square, 9010 Old Battlefield Blvd., Spotsylvania, Va. 22553.
Bring a blanket or chair and come watch this summer’s blockbuster. There will be food trucks, kids activities, and vendors on site. Activities begin at 5:30pm, movie begins at sunset.

First Friday Fredericksburg
Friday, Aug. 5, 6 – 9 p.m.
Downtown Fredericksburg
The galleries and studios of downtown Fredericksburg host open houses, with featured artists, refreshments and often live music. Many businesses are open late. There is a free shuttle service operated by the Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg.

First Friday History Trivia Night
James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library, 908 Charles St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401
Friday, Aug. 5, 6 – 8 p.m.
Join celebrity hosts Dee Daniels and Ted Schubel of B101.5 for a history trivia contest in the museum garden. Cash bar, prizes, 50/50 raffle.
Free admission.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series
The free Friday night concerts are held from 7 – 9 p.m. in historic Market Square at 907 Princess Anne St, in downtown Fredericksburg.
August 5 – Bombadil

History at Sunset
The National Park Service’s 15th annual History at Sunset programs begin at 7 p.m., and run about 90 minutes. Visitors are advised to be prepared for walking trails and fields—so wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and bug repellant. Visitors should also bring a small flashlight for use in the low-light conditions at the end of each program.

Patawomeck Village Reenactment
Saturday, Aug. 6, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Rain date: Saturday, Aug. 13
Central Rappahannock Regional Library Headquarters branch, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.
Members of the Patawomeck Tribe take you back in time to explore a longhouse, Indian-style open fire cooking, cornmeal pounding, music, and to meet Pocahontas. Artifacts, crafts, games, and more activities, both inside and outside! All ages. Read more.

Saturday in Mary Washington’s Garden
Saturday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Celebrate a fun family day in the garden with games and activities for all.

Chatham Manor Roaring Twenties Garden Party and Concert
Saturday, Aug. 6, 12 – 8 p.m.
Chatham Manor, 120 Chatham Lane, Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park presents this National Park Service centennial celebration, featuring 1920s era cars and living historians dressed in period clothes. There will be walking tours that explore the founding of the park in 1927, and the revitalization of Chatham in the 1920s, including the creation of its famed gardens. The Capital Focus Jazz Band will perform from 6 – 8 p.m. You are encouraged to bring a picnic and dress in 1920s costume. A prize will be awarded for the best picnic basket setup.

Bluemont Summer Concert Series
Saturday evening 7:30 p.m. concerts in Fredericksburg at Maury Stadium. In the event of bad weather the concert will be held at James Monroe High School.
August 6 – The Flaming Shillelaghs- traditional Celtic music

Gold Panning
Sundays, August 7, 14, 21, 28, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Lake Anna State Park, 6800 Lawyers Rd., Spotsylvania, Va. — Meet at the Visitor Center.
Learn some of the techniques of professional prospectors and then dip your pan in Old Pond to see what washes up. Please pre-register. Limit 15.
