UMW Philharmonic Spring Concert: South of the Border
Friday, April 22, 7:30 p.m.
Dodd Auditorium, George Washington Hall, 1301 College Ave, Fredericksburg
Philharmonic hosts renowned Argentine conductor Lucia Zicos as they perform music from South America and Latin America. The orchestra will feature UMW faculty pianist Andrew Krauss.
Tickets range from $15 – $55, and are available by phone at 540-654-1324, or online.

Junior Ranger Day at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park
Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center, 1013 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg.
Kids ages 6 – 12 should pick up unique National Park Service Centennial Junior Ranger Activity Booklets at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center. Park rangers will be on-hand to help children fulfill the necessary requirements to earn a special, sustainable, wooden badge to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.
Free.

5th Annual FredTech STEM 16 Summit
Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
James Monroe High School, 2300 Washington Ave, Fredericksburg.

Family Fun Fest
Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Spotsylvania Towne Centre, 137 Spotsylvania Mall, Fredericksburg.
Visit with The Real Housewives of Potomac. Cheer for the fastest crawling baby in the Diaper Derby. Vendors and activities for the family. Hosted by B101.5 FM.

Fredericksburg Food Truck Rodeo and Beer Fest
Saturday, April 23, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Celebrate Virginia After Hours, 2150 Gordon W. Shelton Blvd, Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg’s first Food Truck Rodeo and Beer Fest will feature some 30 food trucks and four micro breweries, plus a variety of other vendors.
$5 admission.

Mary Washington House Spring Garden
Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Mary Washington House garden, 1200 Charles St, Fredericksburg.
Garden tour is free, and features a chat with the gardener.

Earth Day on the Rappahannock
Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Rain date is Saturday, April 30)
Old Mill Park, 2410 Caroline St, Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg Parks & Recreation sponsors Earth Day on the Rappahannock to provide an enjoyable and engaging family-friendly event devoted to environmental awareness and stewardship. Activities interactive exhibits by participating environmental groups, wildlife shows, children’s activities, live music and food for sale. There’s a free shuttle to the park from James Monroe High School, 2300 Washington Ave, Fredericksburg.
Free admission.

Moss Free Clinic 5K Run/Walk
Sunday, April 24, 8:30 a.m.
Race starts and finishes at the Moss Free Clinic, 1301 Sam Perry Blvd, Fredericksburg.
The 6th Annual Moss Free Clinic 5K Run/Walk is held on a USATF certified course.
Registration is $25/person by April 8 to guarantee a t-shirt. Price goes up to $30 after April 8.

Organ Concert
Sunday, April 24, 3 p.m.
St. George’s Episcopal Church, 905 Princess Anne St, Fredericksburg.
Featuring St. George’s organists John Vreeland, Kelly Kazik, Trystan Bennett, and Achim Loch.
Free. Donations welcome.

Spring Opening of St. James’ House
April 25 – 30, 1 – 4 p.m.
St. James’ House, 1300 Charles St, Fredericksburg.
St. James’ House was built about 1768, and is one of the few 18th-century frame houses still standing in Fredericksburg. It’s open for tours only a few times a year.
$3 admission.
