I-95 Express Lanes Extension Discussed in Stafford February 17

by | Feb 16, 2016 | Traffic

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is hosting a public information meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, about plans for extending the I-95 Express Lanes in Stafford. The meeting will be held at H.H. Poole Middle School, 800 Eustace Rd. in Stafford.

The 95 Express Lanes project opened to traffic in December 2014. “With increasing travel volumes on the Express Lanes, VDOT, in partnership with 95 Express Lanes LLC, propose to further optimize the flow of traffic at the southern terminus of the project in Stafford County,” VDOT said.

The proposed Southern Terminus Extension project will construct an approximate 2.2 mile reversible extension in the vicinity of I-95 Mile Marker 143 in Stafford County. It would begin at the current terminus of the 95 Express Lanes (located north of Route 610, Garrisonville Road), and include the creation of new northbound and southbound accesses between the Express Lanes and the general purpose lanes.

A brief presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m., and will be repeated at 7:30 p.m. Project materials including plans, schedules, and traffic, environmental and civil rights information will be available for review. The materials are also available for review at www.virginiadot.org and at VDOT’s Fredericksburg District Office at 87 Deacon Rd., Fredericksburg.

Submit comments at the meeting or to Paul Nishimoto, Project Manager, VDOT Northern Virginia District, 4975 Alliance Dr., Fairfax, Va. 22030. You may also e-mail comments to
