The winter storm working its way east will most likely have less impact on the Fredericksburg area than first expected. The main reason is temperatures are expected to be near or above freezing the National Weather Service said.
Rain is likely after 3 p.m. Friday, changing to rain and sleet before midnight. Overnight the rain and sleet are expected to alternate, depending on the temperature. In some areas a one- or two-degree temperature difference could make the difference between a cold rain, sleet and a wet snow, the National Weather Service said.
Snow and sleet is expected before noon Saturday, then a chance of rain and snow. Saturday’s high should be near 41. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with new snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 43.
