She’s famous locally for her consistently superb dishes at FoodE . Now Executive Chef Joy Crump will share her talent with the nation as a contestant in Season 12 of Bravo’s reality series “Top Chef.”

Crump and FoodE co-owner Beth Black made the announcement Wednesday on Facebook. But they’ve been keeping it a secret for months. Bravo filmed Season 12 in Boston in May and June, The Boston Globe said.
The FoodE duo made their announcement the same day Bravo executives released the names of all “Top Chef” contestants:

“The cheftestants will bring out their knives as they battle it out for $125,000 furnished by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and the title of Top Chef,” the show’s website said. Season 12 premiers at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Crump began her culinary career in Los Angeles, then moved to Atlanta for culinary studies at the Art Institute of Atlanta. After graduating, she apprenticed at Woodfire Grill under Chef Michael Tuohy. She continued at Woodfire Grill under its new owner Chef Kevin Gillespie — a Top Chef contestant in 2008 (Season 6).
In 2008, Crump founded FoodE in Atlanta as a home-based private event and catering company. In 2010, FoodE opened its restaurant and catering company at 1006 Caroline Street in Fredericksburg.
“We believe that the freshest, cleanest ingredients make the best dishes,” Crump and Black write on the restaurant’s webpage. “We also believe in supporting the local community by highlighting the products grown and harvested right here in this region.”
