Quilt National ’13 opens at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center (FAMCC) on December 1, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on First Friday, Dec. 5.
The exhibition includes 26 quilts from the Quilt Nation ’13 collection, the eighteenth biennial competition that drew more than 851 entries by 458 artists from 44 states and 17 foreign countries.
The opening reception on December 5 will be held on the first floor of the Old Town Hall Building, 907 Princess Anne St. This reception is free and open to the public, but please RSVP to 540-371-3037 x 400 or [email protected].
Local art quilter Lorie McCown will speak at the December 9 Breakfast with the Curator program at FAMCC, 1001 Princess Anne St. McCown will discuss the Quilt National 2013 competition and exhibition, her work in the Quilt National 2013 collection, and the traditional and contemporary techniques and styles of art quilting. The program, which begins at 9 a.m., is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required. To RSVP, please contact [email protected].
