Christopher Anthony Skomra, 49, of Clinton, Maryland, died at home, with his beloved dog, Molly, at his side after a long battle with cancer Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Chris was born March 23, 1975 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Blacklick Valley High School. He also resided in Belsano, Pennsylvania and attended Saint Francis University in Loretta, Pennsylvania where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
For 25 years, Chris proudly served as a police officer for the US Capital in Washington DC. He served on the Motor Unit, Mountain Bike Unit, First Responder Unit, and as a Canine Technician. Chris and his canine, Piton, retired together from the police service in September 2024.
Chris is survived by his parents, Wesley and Charmaine Murray (Vermillion); brothers, Samuel and Ruthie Skomra (Nicklow), and Charles and Veronica Skomra (Rowley); sister, Jennifer and Martin Scherer; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Ruth Vermillion (White), and Francis and Charlotte Skomra (Mardis); and his father, Samuel E. Skomra Sr.
Chris enjoyed fishing, cruising on his Harley, and hanging out with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.
