- A Crunch Fitness location is planned inside the roughly 31,000-square-foot space at 3101 Plank Road in Fredericksburg. East Coast Appliance closed its location there at the end of 2024 (the previous tenant was Toys “R” Us).
- A sauna and cold-plunge studio is planned at 1000 Prince Edward St. in Downtown Fredericksburg. Element Contrast Studio will be between Natural Mystics and Dragonfly Yoga FXBG on the first floor of the Paymon Fine Rug Imports building across from Hurkamp Park. It will have two traditional Finnish saunas, three cold-plunge tubs, relaxation/recovery areas, lockers, changing rooms and showers, said Anne Kemp, who is opening the business this summer with her husband. Kemp also owns Dragonfly; she said Element Contrast Studio is a separate business but is designed to complement the yoga studio. Construction is under way.
- There were 88 homes sold last week in the Fredericksburg region, including four for more than $1 million, according to FAAR. Check back weekly for the new list.
- Four new homes are planned on a 2.1-acre lot at 1715 William St. in Fredericksburg (at the intersection of State Route 3 and Westwood Drive). The owners are Patricia Middleton Moncure and Withers Waller Moncure Jr., and the applicant is Abe Madi. The City is accepting public comments and questions through April 7. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom homes are planned to be about 2,355 square feet, according to a Redfin listing.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match up to $10,000 in donations to Spreading Smiles at Renato’s, a nonprofit arm of the Downtown Fredericksburg restaurant that provides meals, holiday gifts, clothing and more to in-need local children. The organization is now providing meals to almost 400 children a week at almost 20 local schools.
- River Rock Outfitter plans to open its Central Park store (1382 Carl D. Silver Parkway next to Five Below) on April 2. River Rock’s other store recently re-located from William Street to 708 Caroline St. in Downtown Fredericksburg.
- Collage Spa will open its third location in a couple of weeks at 10482 Georgetown Drive in Spotsylvania (near the Giant store at the intersection of Leavells and Courthouse roads). The other locations are downtown in Fredericksburg and Culpeper.
- A 4,200-square-foot, single-story office for Massaponax Dental Care is planned in front of the Publix store in Spotsylvania’s Cosner’s Corner development. Preliminary site work has started.
- Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg recently donated $7,500 to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU to enhance clinical services and programs offered in the Fredericksburg area. The organization’s “Fredericksburg Multispecialty Center” is at 10528 Spotsylvania Avenue in the Lee’s Hill area.
- Potomac Point Winery in Stafford County was among the Virginia vineyards honored at the annual Virginia Governor’s Cup Gala this month in Richmond. Potomac Point’s 2023 Albariño will be featured in the Virginia Governor’s Cup Case, a collection of the competition’s 12 highest-scoring wines. Barboursville Vineyards’ 2023 Vermentino won top honors at this year’s competition.
