On Jan. 17, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office arrested a fourth suspect linked to the fatal shooting in downtown Fredericksburg this past December.
The suspect, Daquan Warren, 24, of Woodford, is currently being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond. He is facing multiple serious charges, including second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In the early-morning hours of Dec. 14, Fredericksburg resident Tyler Jones was shot multiple times near the corner of William and Charles streets. To date, three other individuals have been arrested and charged with his killing.
A week after Jones’ death, a group of his family and friends gathered to celebrate him at his favorite bar: Jay’s Downtown Sports Lounge. Will Jones said that, at the time of his death, his younger brother had recently started a good job and was “becoming the man he needed to be.”
In a statement announcing the arrest, the Fredericksburg Police Department thanked detectives, “who have dedicated invaluable time and effort to this investigation” and also credited the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.
FPD said its investigation remains ongoing, and police will provide updates to the public as needed.
