Beginning in February, AARP will provide free tax preparation at locations in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Orange, Culpeper, Essex, King & Queen, Caroline, and Westmoreland counties. Call your nearest location to obtain information packets and schedule an appointment. Appointments will generally run through April 15, consistent with site hours and days of operation.
The primary purpose of the AARP Tax Aide program is to provide free tax preparation for low-to-moderate income and elderly families and individuals whose returns are within the scope of its IRS-certified volunteers’ training. Those with Adjusted Gross Incomes greater than $200,000 should consider other avenues for their tax preparation needs such as paid tax return preparers. AARP Tax Aide volunteers will focus on cases without complicated tax issues.
AARP membership is not required to use the free Tax Aide service.
