Del. Paul Milde (R-Stafford) announced Wednesday that he will seek re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 64th District, which is wholly contained in Stafford.
Milde is the second state legislator representing the Fredericksburg area to declare a bid for re-election this month.
Del. Josh Cole (D-Fredericksburg) announced recently that he will seek re-election in the 65th District.
Milde defeated Leonard Lacey, pastor of United Faith Christian Ministry in Stafford, to earn the seat in the 2023 election. He lost to Cole in 2019 for the 28th District seat.
Milde said when he took office he pledged to make Virginia “stronger, safer and more affordable.”
“Working with my fellow delegates on both sides of the aisle, and supporting the leadership of [Gov. Glenn Youngkin], our Commonwealth has made and continues to make genuine progress,” Milde said in a release announcing his plans to run again.
Milde said there’s much more work to do on the affordability front. He mentioned adopting energy policies that reduce costs and promote economic growth. He made clear his support for Gov. Youngkin’s tax relief proposal in the upcoming General Assembly session.
Milde said he will continue to push for transportation improvements in the region that will reduce gridlock and also prioritize environmental-friendly initiatives.
No Democrat has yet to announce a candidacy opposing Milde.
“As a conservative, I remain steadfast in my support for smaller government, for law enforcement, and for ensuring parents have a voice in the education of their children,” Milde said. “And as the father of two daughters, I will continue to support measures that guarantee girls’ sports are reserved exclusively for girls.”
