A man wanted in connection with a shooting death in downtown Fredericksburg last weekend in the 400 block of William Street surrendered to authorities Thursday morning in West Virginia.
Elijah Musgrove is facing charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in commission of a felony after the shooting death of Tyler Lee Jones, 23, of Fredericksburg.
Musgrave eluded law enforcement since last Saturday morning but surrendered Thursday at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia and is awaiting extradition to Fredericksburg. That’s when the Fredericksburg Police Department will take custody and continue the legal process.
Police said their investigation is ongoing and Fredericksburg authorities will provide future updates.
Musgrave is the second arrest in connection with Jones’ death. On Sunday morning, Izaiah Jabbar Daniels, 21, of Woodford was apprehended by Orange County deputies during a traffic stop. Daniels is facing charges of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
In a press release, the city police department thanked the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and the Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the investigation.
