A 470,000-plus square foot veterans health care center is scheduled to open in March in Spotsylvania County.
The outpatient health care center will be one of the largest operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs. It is located on a 48-acre site at 10432 Patriot Highway, a half-mile from the Exit 126 interchange off Interstate 95. There is a secondary entrance on Hood Drive.
Construction on the facility began in 2021, and the center is expected to produce about 600 jobs when it opens. The VA has been in the process of hiring for the facility, which will have 2,600 parking spaces for patients and staff.
The facility will replace the existing three smaller Fredericksburg-area VA clinics. There will not be an emergency room or inpatient services, but the facility will offer a large variety of outpatient services including laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, primary care, mental health, dental, audiology, optometry, prosthetics, physical therapy, surgical specialities and more.
