    • The 19,352-square-foot retail shopping center at 3500 Plank Road in Spotsylvania County recently sold to DRM Investments 2 LLC for $3.75 million, according to Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, which represented the buyer. Johnson Realty Advisors represented the seller, Tile Properties – Battlefield LLC.
    • FORT, which has a retail store at 900 Caroline St. and a play space for young children at 202 Herndon St. (both in Fredericksburg), recently opened a second retail shop at 5714 Grove Ave. in Richmond.
    • The City of Fredericksburg recently announced that Moody’s upgraded its general obligation bond rating from Aa2 to Aa1, which is only one notch below Moody’s highest rating.
    • Alec McElhinny has joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Fredericksburg office as an associate, specializing in industrial sales, leasing and investment sales. McElhinny is an industrial real estate developer with multiple new flex projects in development in the Fredericksburg region.
    • Jacob Long has been named vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer at the University of Mary Washington. With more than two decades of experience in state higher education, Long joins UMW as a member of the cabinet leadership team. He will start Oct. 25.
    • A 2,600-square-foot Pollo Campero restaurant is being built at 3557 Plank Road in Spotsylvania (near the Bragg Road intersection).
    • A Sheetz fueling station with a store and drive-through eatery is proposed at 4001 Plank Road (near the Heatherstone Drive intersection).
    • A commercial development featuring a car wash, self-storage and retail is proposed at 6532 Wrights Lane in Spotsylvania (across from the Lidl at the Gordon Road and Plank Road intersection).
