- VAMAC Inc., a Virginia-based wholesaler specializing in plumbing, well and septic supply, recently started construction of a 100,000-square-foot distribution and warehousing facility in Caroline County’s Carmel Church Business Centre. Once fully operational next year, the new warehouse is expected to employ about 25 people. VAMAC’s site is near Lingerfelt’s recently completed 325,500-square-foot industrial development.

- The Picklr, a 10-court indoor pickleball complex planned at 3700 Plank Road in Spotsylvania County, is scheduled to open October 19.
- A 1.78-acre property near the existing hotels at 1068-1076 Hospitality Lane in Fredericksburg (near the stadium and convention center) will be auctioned off starting Oct. 7. More details are here.
- Moss Family Dentistry in Fredericksburg has moved to its renovated location at 1808 Princess Anne Street.
- A 1.75-acre property near Carl’s at 2015 Princess Anne St. in Fredericksburg is being auctioned online. More details are here.
- Whittingham in downtown Fredericksburg this week is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
- Soup and Taco Restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary.
- Alan Furs in downtown Fredericksburg recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
- Mary Washington Healthcare recently announced the certification of its cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
- Maggie’s Subs has opened a second area location, this one at 10813 Courthouse Road in the Four Mile Fork area of Spotsylvania. The original location is downtown.
- The Good Feet Store will open a location in Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center on Oct. 17. The 3,500-square-foot location at 1682 Carl D. Silver Parkway near Ulta Beauty and Club Champion will be the company’s 11th in Virginia.
- For Five Coffee Roasters has opened a location on the campus of the University of Mary Washington in the Hurley Convergence Center. The shop is open to both students and the general public.
- The planned Hacienda El Patron restaurant at 2805 Plank Road in Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center (formerly Joe’s Crab Shack) is set to open in mid-October. El Patron has several additional locations in the region.
- Coatings Central plans to open its store at 3801-C Plank Road in Spotsylvania on Oct. 19.
- Blue Hour Vintage, which offers vintage clothing and accessories, has opened at 809 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.
- The unemployment rate in the Fredericksburg market (Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford) was 3.4 percent as of July, according to Virginia Works. That was up from 3 percent in July 2023.
