The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Kyro is a four month old purebred Bloodhound that has been assigned to Deputy C. Amos. Deputy Amos and his partner are new members to the Virginia Bloodhound Search and Rescue Association.
Kyro and Deputy Amos will be certified in tracking and responding to calls for service regarding missing and endangered persons, locating fleeing suspects, and assisting with criminal investigations.
Kyro and Deputy Amos began training when Kyro was 3 months old. The Sheriff’s Office says Kyro is already showing a strong drive to work and is learning to use his nose well. The two are training multiple times a month in various environments ( i.e. woods, rural land, public parks, urban areas). A Facebook posting says Deputy Amos and Kyro are excited to get certified “and provide this service to our citizens for the betterment of our community and communities around us.”
