The Caroline Sheriff’s Office says a 21-year-old Ladysmith man faces breaking and entering charges after Domino’s resturant reported after hours thefts.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted last week after Domino’s discovered that someone was gaining access to the establishment after hours without triggering the security system. Management began noticing that small items and small amounts of cash were regularly missing, which prompted them to review store camera footage.
The store camera footage revealed that an unknown man, who kept his face covered from camera view, was occasionally accessing the restaurant late at night. Investigators then installed Sheriff’s Office equipment so they would be notified if the suspect returned.
The Sheriff’s Office says during the early morning hours of Friday, August 2, investigators received notification that there was motion at the restaurant. Deputy Stapleton, Deputy Wilcox, and Deputy Wright responded to the Domino’s and found a man just outside of the rear door.
Deputies identified the man as 21-year-old Ethan Carter, of Ladysmith and discovered that Carter was previously employed by the Ladysmith Domino’s and knew the code to disarm the security system. After further investigation, deputies recovered $120.00 believed to have been stolen from the Domino’s cash register.

Carter was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and petit larceny. At the time of his arrest, Carter was also wanted by the Caroline County Court system for violations of a court order. Carter is currently being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail, and additional charges are expected to be placed in relation to previous larcenies from the Ladysmith Domino’s.
