Congratulations to Katie Brady. Stafford Fire and Rescue’s Public Information Officer has been accepted into the Emergency Management Institute’s (EMI) FY25 Master Public Information Officer (MPIO) Program.
This is the final component of the public information training series. This three-course program prepares public information officers for an expanded role in delivering public information and warning using a strategic whole-community approach.
The Master Public Information Officer Program reinforces the qualities needed to lead whole community public information/external affairs programs, provides relevant management theories and concepts, and uses case studies to enhance public information/external affairs skill sets.
Participants work on projects in a collaborative environment, establish a network of peers, and contribute to the body of knowledge for emergency management-related public information.
Applicants undergo a rigorous selection process to ensure they meet the program’s high standards. Stafford Fire and Rescue says this year’s process was especially competitive, with fewer than half of the applicants making the final cut. To date, there are only 156 FEMA MPIO graduates nationwide.
