VDOT says there will be daytime travel delays on Route 1 at the Falmouth Bridge over the Rappahannock River between Stafford and Fredericksburg the 15th and 16th.
Crews are continuing bridge inspection work to gather information needed for a future maintenance project of Falmouth Bridge.
Northbound and southbound single lane closures will be in place on the bridge at the following dates and times:
Monday, July 15
Route 1 northbound
Single lane closure, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, July 16
Route 1 northbound and southbound
Single lane closures 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If work is canceled it will be rescheduled to occur on Wednesday, July 17, and Thursday, July 18, during the same times.
A major rehabilitation project is currently in the design phase to improve the bridge’s condition. Built in 1943, the Falmouth Bridge carries an average of 38,000 vehicles a day, according to recent traffic counts.
