Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)

Monday – Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.Alternating single lane closures for soil sampling work near the interchange.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

Sunday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at mile marker 137, the bridge over Potomac Creek. Bridge joint repairs. Northbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.

Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville) to Exit 148 (Quantico)

Sunday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at mile marker 145, the bridge over Aquia Creek. Bridge joint repairs. Northbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.

Exit 148 (Quantico) to Exit 143 (Garrisonville)

Sunday – Sunday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Left lane closure for shoulder repair work between mile markers 145-144.

Chatham Bridge (Route 3 Business)

Thursday, 9 p.m. – 11 p.m. Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will close Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River between River Road and Sophia Street in the City of Fredericksburg to assist with traffic control for the 4th of July Spectacular at Pratt Park.

Route 607 (Guinea Station Road)

Monday – Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Right lane closure for guardrail repair near I-95 overpass. Flaggers will alternate, one-way traffic through the work zone.

Bridge Washing

Sunday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge washing at multiple locations across Caroline. Lane closures and alternating one-way traffic at times directed by a flagging crew. Crews will be working along the following routes:

• Route 207 over I-95
• Route 601 over I-95
• Route 605 over I-95
• Route 632 over I-95
• Route 639 over I-95
• Route 652 over I-95

Route 17

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Route 17 between the Middlesex County and Essex County line and Eastern View Road for paving.

Route 360

Sunday – Tuesday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Alternating lane closures on Route 360 eastbound and westbound between King and Queen County line and Route 17 for bridge repairs.

Surface Treatment

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Alternating lane closures with flagging operations for surface treatment on the following routes:

Founders Mill Subdivision and Quail Hollow Subdivision

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Alternating lane closures for road resurfacing using cape seal surface treatment on various routes in the subdivisions. A pilot truck will be used to guide drivers through the work zone by alternating, one-way traffic on the various routes.

Sunday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures for paving between Route 360 and West End Totuskey Creek Bridge.

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closure near Route 360 for guardrail installation.

Route 360

Sunday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures for milling and paving, and pavement markings between Gordon Lane and Downing Bridge.

Route 1 Southbound

Monday – Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Right lane closure for guardrail repair near Harrison Road intersection.

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Wednesday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closures near I-95 interchange for shoulder widening work.

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures between Market Street and I-95 off-ramp for preliminary engineering work.

Route 3 over Lick Run

Monday – Wednesday, 12 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.Alternating temporary single lane closures for mobilization and sign installation for the Route 3 over Lick Run culvert installation project between the Spotsylvania County Museum and Montpelier Drive.

Route 3 over Wilderness Run

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Alternating lane closures at the bridges over Wilderness Run at the Spotsylvania and Orange county line.

Route 17 (Mills Drive)

Sunday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Alternating lane closures with one-way traffic at times directed by a flagging crew. Milling and paving between Route 1 and Old Dominion Parkway. Part of Route 17 widening and Route 17 I-95 overpass replacement project.

Route 208 (Courthouse Road)

Sunday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. –45 a.m. Alternating lane closures with flaggers at the Hood Drive intersection for milling as part of the widening project.

Route 618 over Golin Run

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic between Route 620 and Route 639.

Route 620 over Pipe Dam Run

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic between Route 618 and Route 616.

Route 620 over Laroque Run

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic between Route 618 and Route 616.

Mallard Road

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Utility work between Mudd Tavern Road and Orrock Road.

Morris Road

Sunday – Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. Paving. One-way, alternating traffic directed by a flagging crew between Old Plank Road and Gordon Road. Installation of pavement markings following recent paving.

Salem Church Road

Monday – Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Right lane closure for guardrail repair near Route 3 intersection.

Southpoint Parkway

Monday – Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Alternating single lane closures on Southpoint Parkway between Route 1 and Pacific Drive for bridge construction.

Route 1 Northbound

Monday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. Left lane closure for guardrail repair near Centreport Parkway.

Route 17 over Deep Run

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Alternating single lane closures near the Fauquier and Stafford county line.

Route 608 (Brooke Road)

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Ditch cleaning between Andrew Chapel Road and Raven Road. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone.

Route 615 over Deep Run Creek

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge cleaning. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic between Route 625 and Route 628.

Berea Church Road CLOSURE

Berea Church Road is closed from Berea Knolls Drive to Theresa Garden Place, and northbound access is closed from Route 17 to Berea Knolls Drive. Construction for a Stafford County project to improve Berea Church Road. View the project page.

Enon Road

Sunday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. One-way, alternating traffic directed by a flagging crew between Route 1 and Truslow Road. Milling and paving.

Monument Drive

Monday – Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic on Monument Drive in the Augustine subdivision for milling and paving.

Secondary Route Paving Operations

Monday – Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Milling and paving on Route 624 (Forbes Street/Primmer House Road/Morton Road/Layhill Road) between Route 1 and Riggs Road. Flaggers will alternate, one-way traffic through the work zone. Expect brief daytime delays.

Route 1756 (Creek Run Road)

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Pipe repairs between Stonewall Drive and Bent Creek Court. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone.

Additional Projects in Fredericksburg District

Route 17 and Guinea Road Intersection Improvement

Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 216 (Guinea Road) in Gloucester County. On Guinea Road, the existing concrete median will be shifted slightly to allow for the construction of a dedicated left turn lane and a dedicated through lane for traffic approaching Route 17. The project will retain a dedicated right turn lane on Guinea Road. Sidewalk improvements will also be made at the intersection. Project completion is scheduled for July 2024.

Route 628 (Dorrell Road/Spring Cottage Road) Bridge Closure

Dorrell Road/Spring Cottage Road is closed at the bridge over the Mattaponi River, located at the King and Queen and King William county line. The road will remain closed until early June 2025. A bridge superstructure replacement project is under design. The bridge closed for motorist safety in March 2023 after a routine inspection found significant deterioration in key bridge elements. A detour route is posted.

I-95 Southbound Exit 126 Off-Ramp and Route 1 Southbound

A second right turn lane is under construction from the I-95 southbound off-ramp at exit 126 onto Route 1 southbound. Route 1 southbound is being widened from the off-ramp to Southpoint Parkway with an additional turn lane. A second right turn lane is being added from Route 1 southbound to Southpoint Parkway. Traffic islands will be installed along Southpoint Parkway as a safety improvement to allow left turns into driveways but restrict through and left-turning traffic exiting from side streets. Additional right turn lane added to Southpoint Parkway to Route 1 southbound. Project completion in Aug. 2025.

Route 3 and Orange Plank Road

Construction started in May 2024 to modify the intersection of Route 3 and Orange Plank Rd. to a new traffic pattern to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and reduce conflict points. Project completion in summer 2024.

Route 17 (Mills Drive) Overpass Replacement and Widening

Construction started in Dec. 2020 to replace the existing two-lane interstate overpass on Route 17 with a four-lane bridge. Route 17 is being widened to four lanes until just east of the Hospital Boulevard/Germanna Point Drive intersection. A shared-use path, sidewalk, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be added as part of the project. Project completion was scheduled for late Feb. 2024. The project is now anticipated to be completed in late August 2024.

Route 208 (Courthouse Road) and Hood Drive

Hood Drive is reduced to a single lane between Route 1 and Route 208 (Courthouse Road), carrying only northbound traffic. Southbound traffic should follow the posted detour along Courthouse Road and Route 1 southbound. New right and left turn lanes are under construction at an entrance to a future Veterans Health Administration clinic. Additional turn lanes will be built on northbound Hood Drive approaching Courthouse Road. A raised median on Hood Drive will separate northbound and southbound traffic between Courthouse Road and McGowan Drive. Additional sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be installed at the intersection. Project completion in late July 2024.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) Widening

Mudd Tavern Road is being widened to four lanes between I-95 and Route 1. A new secondary access route, Route 2092, will be built parallel to Mudd Tavern Road, and will connect with South Roxbury Mill Road and Dan Bell Lane. Project completion in May 2025.

Lee Hill School Drive and Old Dominion Parkway Mini-Roundabout

Construction is underway to build a mini-roundabout at the Lee Hill School Drive and Old Dominion Parkway intersection. A roundabout traffic pattern is currently in place as construction continues to build the center island and median islands. Travelers can expect lane closures and periodic traffic control directed by a flagging crew as construction progresses. Passenger vehicles can pass through the intersection during construction. Tractor-trailers and oversized vehicles will be detoured for short durations to allow concrete to cure for islands. Mini roundabouts are circular intersections where all traffic moves in a counter-clockwise direction around a center island. Traffic entering the mini roundabout slows down and yields to traffic already inside. Mini roundabouts operate the same way as a traditional roundabout but have a smaller diameter and their paved center island can be driven over by trucks and other large vehicles when necessary. Project completion scheduled for early November 2024.

Westmoreland County

Route 658 (Monroe Bay Circle)

Monroe Bay Circle is reduced to a single travel lane with a temporary bridge spanning Monroe Creek. A temporary traffic signal is directing one-way, alternating traffic. The bridge is a temporary measure to maintain traffic flow while a bridge replacement project is advanced.
