Stafford County crime report May 14-17

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from May 14-17.

  • FRAUD Via De Rosa Drive, 5/15, 5:31 p.m. A victim reported she had been scammed. The victim advised she received a pop-up message on her computer to solve a security issue. She would contact someone posing as Microsoft support who advised her there was a leak in her bank account and the only way to make it safe was to transfer her funds into Bitcoin. 
  • DUI Intersection of Warrenton Road and Celebrate Virginia Parkway, 5/13, 12:56 a.m. Sergeant J.D. Hurt was in the area when he observed a vehicle struggling to stay in its lane. Noticing this clue of a DUI, Hurt conducted a traffic stop as Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to assist. The driver had clear signs of intoxication, admitted to consuming approximately five shots prior to driving, and had a juvenile in the backseat. She was charged with driving under the influence with a child present and the traffic lane violation. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. Richland Drive, 5/14, 4:02 p.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised he was behind a vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic and “almost hit a car head on.” With the caller’s live updates, deputies located the suspect vehicle and made contact with the driver. The driver had signs of intoxication, as well as, was discovered to have suspected controlled substances on his person. He was charged with driving under the influence and possession of controlled substances. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.YMCA, 212 Butler Road, 5/16, 5:39 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised a vehicle was swerving and ran off the road a few times. Before deputies could arrive, the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle. Hensley made contact with the suspect, who was only wearing a t-shirt, and observed several signs of intoxication. The driver admitted to consuming “some” hard lemonade before she got behind the wheel. Inside the vehicle, deputies located approximately ten empty hard lemonade cans and an empty bottle of champagne. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, and reckless driving. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. Hudson Road, 5/16, 9:31 p.m. Deputy M.N. Sayegh responded to a hit and run. The caller advised his vehicle was struck by a trailer. Sayegh made contact with the caller when she noticed damages to his vehicle, and signs of intoxication. The caller, now suspect, admitted to consuming vodka shots while at Falmouth beach. Inside his vehicle was an empty bottle of vodka. He was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. The alleged sticking vehicle was not located.
  • INDECENT EXPOSURE Old Potomac Church Road, 5/15, 9:00 a.m. Deputy R.R. Pomeroy was traveling in the area when he observed a vehicle on the side of the road. Standing next to the vehicle was a male who had his genitals exposed, despite multiple vehicles passing, including a school bus. The suspect advised he wanted to “relieve” himself despite multiple public bathrooms nearby. He was issued a summons for indecent exposure. 
  • LARCENY Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 5/13, 12:51 p.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea and Deputy R.W. Stamm responded to a larceny in progress. Staff advised a suspect they knew to be a habitual shoplifter was back at it again. Deputies stopped him as he attempted to steal nearly $390 worth of items. During their investigation, deputies learned the suspect had stolen items in the past and went to a nearby pawn shop to sell the items. He was charged with two counts of shoplifting, destruction of property and obtaining money by false pretenses. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. Stafford County Parks and Recreation, 1729 Richmond Highway, 5/13, 2:52 p.m. Sergeant K.P. Lytle responded to a vehicle larceny. The victim advised he went into the building for five minutes and when he returned to the parking lot, his vehicle was gone. Surveillance cameras captured the larceny. Deputy C.R. Szentkuti was able to identify the suspect in the video due to him arresting her for public intoxication earlier into his shift. The vehicle was entered as stolen into a law enforcement database and the investigation is ongoing. Stafford High School, 63 Stafford Indians Lane, 5/13, 3:10 p.m. Deputy R.B. Brooks was conducting his SRO duties when he was informed of a larceny. A student left their personal belongings unattended only to have it picked up by another student. The investigation is ongoing. Home Depot, 305 Worth Avenue, 5/14, 11:56 a.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to a larceny. Staff advised they observed a male concealing items onto his person. Gildea made contact with the suspect and discovered over $60 worth of items, including a tape measure. The tape measure wasn’t needed to measure how much trouble he would be in. A summons for shoplifting was issued. Amazon, 220 Centreport Parkway, 5/14, 7:49 p.m. Deputy J.A. Martin responded to a larceny. The victim advised a firearm and credit cards were stolen from his vehicle. Target, 1090 Stafford Market Place, 5/16, 12:24 p.m. Deputy A.M. Pitts responded to a repeat shoplifter. Staff advised a male suspect, who had stolen seven times before, was back once again currently taking items. He was stopped and found with $69 worth of items. He was charged with shoplifting and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. Sheetz, 15 Wyche Road, 5/16, 6:58 p.m. Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt responded to a big B burglary. The suspect stole bacon, burritos, beef jerky, and a bag of chips. Considering the crystal clear camera footage, it is only a matter of time before he is identified. 
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Dollar General, 304 Deacon Road, 5/13, 9:34 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to a public intoxication. The caller advised there was an intoxicated male walking around with his hands in his pants. Baldi located the suspect who had signs of intoxication. The suspect advised he just got off the Metro and needed directions back to it. Considering there is no Stafford Metro stop, Baldi would instead drop him off at Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was charged with public intoxication. He was held until sober. Fas Mart, 620 Cambridge Street, 5/14, 11:11 p.m. Deputy L.T. Ward responded to a public intoxication call. The caller advised there was a male who was acting “erratic” asking people for a ride to Culpeper. Ward made contact with the suspect who was displaying signs of intoxication. He was given a ride, but not to Culpeper. The suspect was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Quarles, 440 Kings Highway, 5/15, 5:50 p.m. Sergeant R.S. Dominguez responded to an unknown problem. The caller advised there was a male suspect who appeared to be “nodding off.” Dominguez located the suspect laying in the grass in an extremely intoxicated state. After being informed he would finish his night at Rappahannock Regional Jail, the suspect would unleash a steady stream of vulgarities that would continue in front of the magistrate. While at the magistrate’s office, the suspect continued to cuss at Dominguez and attempted to fight him multiple times. He was charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing. Shasta Place, 5/16, 5:42 p.m. Deputy E.C. Taylor was assisting with a suspicious vehicle report when he made contact with a male who loves star signs. The self-admitted Aquarius requested Taylor’s star sign numerous times as he drank “dark liquor.” While Aquarius people are known to be independent, this one needed some support to stay upright due to his level of intoxication. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
