Stafford County crime report May 7-13

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from May 7-13.

  • ALCOHOL OFFENSE Stafford Middle School, 101 Spartan Drive, 5/8, 10:50 a.m. Deputy T.K. Phillips was conducting her SRO duties when she was informed of a drinking disruption. Staff discovered three students drinking from a water bottle that was definitely not filled with water. The alcohol was poured out and criminal complaints for underage possession of alcohol were submitted.  
  • ARSON North Stafford High School, 839 Garrisonville Road, 5/9, 11:37 a.m. Deputy R.L. Allen was conducting his SRO duties when he was informed of an arson incident. It was discovered a student set paper towels on fire because he thought it would be “funny.” It was not a laughing matter when a criminal complaint for burning personal property was filed. 
  • ASSAULT Stafford High School, 63 Stafford Indians Lane, 5/7, 2:08 p.m. Deputy R.B. Brooks was conducting his SRO duties when he was informed of an assault. Staff received video of one student assaulting another in the girl’s bathroom. A criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed for the predominant aggressor. Lyons Boulevard, 5/7, 4:21 p.m. Deputy R.L. Hubbard responded to an assault. A juvenile advised he was assaulted by a large group of other juveniles who also stole his phone. The incident was captured on video and the investigation is ongoing. Draper Circle, 5/8, 8:25 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman and Deputy J.J. Suh responded to an assault. One juvenile was assaulted by another during a game of neighborhood basketball. A criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed. Mary Washington Hospital, 1001 Sam Perry Boulevard, 5/9, 1:06 a.m. Deputy V.R. Weadon responded to an assault. The victim was transported to the hospital by a known party. The victim alleged he was walking home from a bar on Warrenton Road when four to five males jumped from a vehicle and assaulted him. Detectives are investigating. Anvil Road, 5/11, 4:52 p.m. Deputies responded to a disturbance with a weapon in the area. No weapon was located and there was a general lack of cooperation by those involved. Two residents had minor injuries, but did not have any interest in participating in the investigation. White Oak 7-Eleven, 5/11, 10:12 p.m. Deputy J.R. Suarez responded to the convenience store for an assault. A female customer was perturbed when a male in the parking lot made a comment toward her. She proceeded to unleash a dose of pepper spray on the man. Medics provided a wash-out for the irritant and the case is under investigation.
  • DISORDERLY CONDUCT Plantation Drive, 5/9, 6:10 p.m. First Sergeant A.I. Assur observed a vehicle with no state inspection sticker and conducted a traffic stop. The driver immediately started the conversation in a belligerent manner and cursed at First Sergeant Assur in nearly every sentence. Due to the driver’s less than good manners, Deputy D.S. Jett responded to assist and discovered he issued the driver a summons in March for the same issue. During the encounter, the driver would continually cuss at deputies despite a crowd of juveniles nearby. The driver received summons for disorderly conduct, having an expired rejection sticker, and failure to obtain a Virginia driver’s license. 
  • DRUGS North Stafford High School, 5/6, 11:40 a.m. Deputy T.K. Phillips was conducting her SRO duties when she was informed of another vaping offense. Staff discovered a student in possession of three vapes, one of which being THC based. A criminal complaint for possession of THC on school grounds was submitted.  
  • DUI Highmark Brewery, 390 Kings Highway, 5/5, 3:28 a.m. From one brewery to the next. Deputy V.R. Weadon was traveling on Kings Highway when she observed a vehicle turn right from a left turn only lane and fail to maintain the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted at Highmark Brewery as Deputy N.J. Amato responded to assist. The driver, who had no driver’s license, advised he only consumed ice tea; however, located in the vehicle next to his ice tea were multiple open cans of Modelo. The driver had clear signs of intoxication and after conducting field sobriety tests, was taken into custody. He was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain the lane of travel, and driving without a license. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Mountain View Road, 5/5, 3:41 a.m. Deputy A.E. Epps responded to a vehicle parked in a ditch. The Chevy Impala was stuck in a ditch facing the wrong direction. If that wasn’t a clue that this was a DUI, the driver had slurred speech and admitted to consuming four Twisted Teas prior to driving. The driver’s adventure was twisted when he was rerouted to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was charged with driving under the influence. He was held until sober. Staffordboro Commuter Lot, 5/7, 11:44 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates was in the area when he located a running vehicle with a sleeping driver inside. The driver created his own personal sauna by turning the heat to full blast. Considering it wasn’t December and Santa wasn’t coming to town, Deputy Bates found this to be odd. The driver had signs of intoxication, as well as, admitted to being intoxicated on the four beers he consumed prior to driving. He was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 400 block of Garrisonville Road, 5/9, 2:47 a.m. Deputy A.E. Epps responded to a single vehicle auto accident. A Fiat struck the median and completely bent the left wheel. The driver had clear signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming “a couple” drinks. “A couple” is more than enough to get you drunk as the 27-year-old found out when he was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Warrenton Road/Cambridge Street, 5/11, 12:24 a.m. Sgt. B.U. Demirci stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain the lane of travel and Deputy J.R. Suarez responded to assist. The 34-year-old female driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. She was charged with second offense DUI and driving after forfeiture of license. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond. Ramoth Church Road, 5/11/24, 1:00 a.m. Sgt. A.T. Leckemby responded to a Honda Fit in the ditch. The 20-year-old female driver was found to be intoxicated. She was charged with DUI and driving after illegally consuming alcohol. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 3000 Block of Richmond Highway, 5/11, 3:27 a.m. First Sgt. M.R. Flick stopped a Nissan Rogue which was utilizing a little over two lanes to meander northbound on Richmond Highway. Deputy W.E. Trainor IV responded to assist and determined the 28-year-old male driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for second offense DUI and held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Richmond Highway/Hospital Center Boulevard, 5/12, 1:17 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor IV observed an Acura with significant damage and airbag deployment stopped in the intersection. The driver was asleep behind the wheel of the running car despite The Mamas and The Papas belting out “California Dreamin’” on the stereo. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. The damage to the vehicle is believed to be from a prior incident. Sheetz, 15 Wyche Road, 5/12, 10:55 p.m. Deputy J.A. Albright responded to the convenience store for a reckless driver. Upon arrival, the reckless driver approached her with a smile and wave. The 31-year-old male driver proceeded to drop his wallet and keys as the deputy noticed further indications of an intoxicated driver. The male was arrested for second offense DUI and he was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing.
  • FRAUD Southern View Drive, 5/8, 1:30 p.m. Deputy B.A. Buzzard responded to a fraud. The victim discovered an unknown pal created a PayPal account in her name and racked up a high debt. Sebastian Road, 5/11, 11:04 a.m. Resident put a down payment on furniture listed on Facebook through Zelle. Shortly after the online transaction, the resident could not reach the seller.
  • HIT AND RUN Pebble Place, 5/12, 1:14 p.m. Resident reported their mailbox was damaged by a grey Ford vehicle. The suspect left behind their side mirror. 
  • LARCENY Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 5/5, 4:39 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to a larceny. Staff advised they caught a male suspect wearing a Super Mario hoodie stealing over $350 worth of items. When the suspect learned that police were on the way he put his Crocs into sports mood and said “Let’s-a-go!” before fleeing the scene. Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 5/6, 2:42 p.m. Deputy F.C. O’Neill would also respond to Walmart for a larceny. The victim advised while shopping her wallet was stolen. Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 5/7, 11:06 a.m. Deputy R.A. Peterson responded to a larceny. One DIY fan attempted to leave with over $220 worth of tools. The hammer came down when staff stopped him and drilled him on his behavior. He was issued a summons for shoplifting. Parkside Lane, 5/12, 12:13 p.m. Resident reported an acquaintance had borrowed her vehicle to go to the store two days ago and never returned. A warrant for unauthorized use was obtained.
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Wawa, 9 South Gateway Drive, 5/9, 2:44 a.m. First Sergeant N. Zotos and Deputy J.A. Martin responded to an intoxicated person call. The caller advised a male yelled at her demanding she call the police because he was drunk. Deputies located the suspect and confirmed his drunken claim as he continued to drink even more alcohol in front of deputies. He was charged with public intoxication and consuming alcohol in public view. Due to his belligerent behavior, he was held pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing. Pratt Park, 5/13, 5:19 p.m. Deputy J.A. Brooks responded to the park for an intoxicated female yelling at park guests. As he approached the scene, the 30-year-old suspect shouted, “go ahead arrest me, I gotta go to jail.” She was granted her request and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober on a public intoxication charge.
  • TRESPASS Garrison Woods, 5/12, 7:14 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates observed a 24-year-old male in the apartment complex who is trespassed from the neighborhood. During the arrest, suspected controlled substances were located. The suspect was charged with trespassing and the controlled substances violation. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. 
  • VANDALISM Foxwood Mobile Home Park, 5/8, 11:09 a.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to a less than exciting art exhibit. Two walkways had been vandalized by spray paint. Considering no one could understand the art it is hoped that the artist continues his day job. Cabin Court, 5/10, 8:23 a.m. Several residents reported their vehicle windows were damaged overnight. Walnut Farms Parkway, 5/11, 10:18 a.m. Resident reported the tire on their vehicle was damaged overnight in her driveway. Raquel Court, 5/11, 9:34 p.m. Resident reported the rear wiper was removed from her vehicle. Tavern Road, 5/11, 8:06 a.m. Resident reported his vehicle windows were damaged sometime in the last week. 
  • WARRANT SERVED Hospital Center Boulevard, 5/9, 5:02 p.m. Sergeant M.E. Gordon conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver was wanted out of Stafford County for a capias. She was served on her outstanding warrant and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
