The Fredericksburg Police Department is investigating several telephone fraud cases. The suspect is impersonating a deputy with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and requesting money be transferred to them so they can avoid being arrested. As a reminder, law enforcement will never request money from individuals to avoid arrest when they have an “active warrant”?
City Police say if something doesn’t feel right, ask for the supervisor’s name, hang up, and contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
