82 year old Spotsylvania resident Arlene has difficulty walking. She lives alone but her daughter visits her daily. Arlene had a ramp that was installed about a year ago that drops 30 inches in about 12 feet. To meet ADA guidelines it should be at least 30 feet long. It was too steep and dangerous for her to use with her rolling walker.
Arlene had fallen on the ramp despite trying to hold on to the railings. Her daughter had trouble assisting her up and down the ramp too. Arlene learned of SAWs after the organization installed a ramp for her sister, who lives nearby, earlier this year.
